Why be different
September 4th, 2007 (General Information)
While homeschooling has existed for many centuries, a lot of people are still asking homeschoolers questions like these today: Why homeschool? Why not send your children to school? Why be different?
Here are some answers to consider about these questions…
- Homeschooling offers a more personalized learning environment, which means that learning hurdles can be easily overcome.
- Parents are able to teach their children valuable character traits so that they do not just simply learn to follow the crowd.
- Parents can control social gatherings so that their children do not make friends according to such things as clothing but instead they make friends according to their shared interests.
- Children learn that they are able to learn something from every part of life.
- There are more opportunities to go on field trips and discover places like museums and concert halls.
All of these things work together to turn learning into an exciting, fresh, new experience. They also help to ensure that schoolwork is not limited to a set schedule of events or a set program to follow. These are the reasons why homeschoolers have chosen to be different. Homeschoolers have seen that the whole world really is a schoolroom, understanding that homeschooling goes beyond books, facts and figures and is more about life itself than anything else.
