Living day to day
September 19th, 2007 (General Information)
Lately we’ve been so busy that all we can manage to do is live day to day. I honestly thought that things were going to get easier and that we’d be able to fall into more of a routine once all of my daughter’s activities finally got started but unfortunately (or fortunately, depending upon how you look at it) that’s not what’s happening. Instead we have been unschooling once again. Yet, I’m not really beating myself up about it right now. I figure that we’ll do enough “paperwork” for in our portfolio by the end of the year as I do keep doing some of it here and there. However, something else that’s interesting is happening… I’m actually taking note of just how much my daughter really is learning and growing even though I’m not forcing her to do “paperwork” each and every day. I still find the need to have workbooks around to turn to once in a while but I guess I’m starting to relax FINALLY.
So, why am I sharing all of this with you?
Besides the fact that I’ve been sharing this with you I think that there really does come a time when we do settle down. There really is a time when we do fall into a routine for our homeschools. Now I just need to learn to tune out those who insist that my daughter should be reading by now or that she doesn’t know her phonics or any of the other things that are said to me frequently which I know are far from the truth. I think the hardest thing here is learning to listen to and trust yourself as a parent, which is something that we must constantly work on throughout the rest of our lives as parents I’m sure.
