Homeschooling ain’t easy

Beware! I don’t want this to turn into a rant, but it just might.

I’ve been a very frustrated single mom lately. My daughter has been so moody lately and it seems like nothing makes it any better. Now I’m sure that all kids go through this, but what do you do when you’re a single mom (or dad) that homeschools too? Of course, it’s summer right now but children can go through this at any time of the year. It gets to the point that it drives me crazy though. Now if your child were in school you would have some sort of a break from this at least and so you probably wouldn’t be goin’ as crazy as I am. So, am I advocating putting our kids in school? No. Am I asking for ideas and help here? Yes. I’m also sharing this with you in case you plan to homeschool your child.

If you’re going to homeschool your child, you need to know up front that there are going to be days like this. There are going to be days when you’re going to be a break and there’s not going to be anyone there to give you one. Of course, when your husband gets home you can get a break then but it may not come soon enough. If you’re a single parent, it may not come at all though. Therefore you really are going to need to find your own little escapes such as hot showers, good books, journaling, whatever.

As for me, my mom has my daughter today and I’m off to take a nap.
